The former Foundation Initiative Grant Program has been amended to become the Initiative Program. This program supports projects that are likely to contribute to future program development, such as joint projects with other organizations, and consists of the following two programs.

Initiative Grants

Aims and Objectives

This program, for which applications are not publicly solicited, supports projects that are likely to contribute to the development of new grant programs, such as projects undertaken in partnership with the Foundation's own survey activities or study groups and current grant projects judged through monitoring and other means to have the potential to produce greater results. It also supports joint projects to create broad networks with other organizations.

Project proposals are screened and approved at program meetings based on evaluations by relevant selection committee members and outside experts, and grants are decided by the Board of Directors.
